Marketing campaigns can have sometimes great results if they are planned and tracked roughly. The best way to track them, see how they perform and if it's worth investing more in them is to use link tags.
Advanced Web Stats automatically generates a URL after you specify desired parameters that will help you to easily analyze the results of your campaigns, being them paid search, newsletters, or PPC.
The following instructions will help you to create a link tag for you campaign.

From the [General Settings] of your profile go to [Reports] and select the [Campaigns] menu. Here you can see a list with the available funnels, add more funnels, delete or change existing ones. For now we only want to create a new segment.
Click on the [Create new campaign] button to add a new campaign for your profile and follow these steps:
-
Choose an easily identifiable name for your campaign.
-
Set a name to identify the medium (for example CPC, PPC, email, banner), or choose from existing one, "organic", "referral", "direct", "spider". This field is required.
-
Set a name to identify the source, like newsletter, referral source or a particular search engine. This field is required.
-
Set a name to identify the term, used for sponsored search to save the keywords targeted for specific adverts. This field is optional.
-
Set a name to identify the content, used to identify different ads from a marketing campaign linked to the same landing page. This field is optional.
After you set all these parameters click the [Finish] button to save your changes.
Now that your campaign has been added click on its name to generate and use the URL in your marketing campaign.
