Applying a segment Advanced Web Stats will display on the graph and table additional information that can be compared with the information already displayed. Comprehensive Segments can help you to compare different sets of data and see the results over a period of time.
You can choose from a list with predefined segments available on all reports, or create your segments using a large selection of parameters to chose from, like Source, Medium, Campaign, Region, Search keyword, Referrer and much more.
For details on how to create your own segments please follow the instructions below.
From the [General Settings] of your profile go to [Reports] and select the [Segments] menu. Here you can see a list with the available segments, add more segments, delete or change existing ones. For now we only want to create a new segment.
Click on the [Create new segment] button to add a new segment for your profile and follow these steps:
-
Choose an easily identifiable name for your segment.
-
Select the first category and parameter for your segment. You can choose from Term, Source, Medium, Country, Campaign, Referrer etc.
-
Click on the [+] button to add a new category.

Note To compare different categories choose the [OR] condition, but if you want to compare with site totals some more categories choose the [AND] condition.
Below you can find two examples that can help you decide easier which condition to use.

If you want to compare different parameters, for example, different countries with the site totals you need to choose the [OR] condition.

If you want to filter the results using multiple parameters and compare the results with the site totals you need to choose the [AND] condition.
Click the [Finish] button to create your new segment or click [Run Now] to save your segment and automatically schedule a log parse.
