Visitor Tracking Script Installation

After installing Advanced Web Stats, additional steps are required if you want to use Advanced Web Stats Session ID, such as visitor tracking script installation. If you want to use only IP+User Agent as Tracking Method, no additional configuration is necessary.

To install the Advanced Web Stats visitor tracking script please follow the steps below:

  • Download the AWS visitor tracking script from http://www.advancedwebstats.com/aws.js and copy it to the main directory of your website content.

  • Reference the visitor tracking script (<script type="text/javascript" src="/aws.js"></script>) in your HTML. Enter the following line in all of your HTML pages.

    Although you can reference the aws.js visitor tracking script anywhere in the pages, we recommend putting it in the <head> section. If you use a common include or template, you can enter it there.

  • Setup your profile. In the AWS Administration interface, edit the profile in question and click on the General Settings tab. Set the Visitor Tracking Method to AWS Session ID and click the Apply button

Add AWS visitor tracking script to Wordpress

To install the AWS visitor tracking script into pages of a website powered by Wordpress, you need to first download the AWS visitor tracking script from http://www.advancedwebstats.com/aws.js and copy it to the main directory of your website content. Then insert the reference script into the template you are using.

To insert the reference script into your Wordpress template please follow the steps outlined below:

  • Login into your Wordpress Admin panel.

  • From the [Appearence] section, select [Editor].

  • The template editor allows you to change different sections of your website, such as the header, footer, 404 template etc.

  • From the right side of the window select to edit the [Header] and reference the aws.js visitor tracking script just before the closing tag of the head section:

Add AWS visitor tracking script to Joomla

In order to install the AWS visitor tracking script into the pages of the website running using a Joomla platform, you need to first download the AWS visitor tracking script from http://www.advancedwebstats.com/aws.js and copy it to the main directory of your website content. Then insert the reference script into the template you are using.

To insert the reference script into your Joomla template please follow the steps outlined below:

  • Login into the administrative back end of your Joomla website.

  • Once logged, select the [Template Manager] option from the [Extensions] menu.

  • In the Template Manager select the template you are using and then select the [Edit] option from top right section of the window.

  • Within the Template Edit window select [Edit HTML] option and reference the aws.js visitor tracking script just before the closing tag of the head section:
